This month's issue of Today's Hospitalist Magazine profiles Jayne Lee, MD, of Eagle Hospital Physicians, highlighting her use of telemedicine in Paris to connect with patients in the US.
Dr. Lee is a hospitalist with the Atlanta-based Eagle Hospital Physicians, a company who manages hospitalist practices in the southeast and mid-atlantic US. They use Remote Presence RP-7® Robots to leverage their physician expertise across multiple hospital locations. Due to the shortage of specialized physicians, such as hospitalists, organizations like Eagle Hospital Physicians are turning to innovative technologies to bridge the gap and provide care to rural facilities.
Dr. Lee spends over one week each month in the US seeing patients face-to-face but, while in Paris, she uses the RP-7 telemedicine Robot to consult on her patients. When Dr. Lee receives a page, she logs onto the hospital's Remote Presence Robot, speaks to the onsite team and then consults with the patient, all while being half a world away. In the article, she mentions her hopes to one day practice remotely full time.
