"The Robot at the Bedside"

A recent article by David Ollier Weber in the Hospitals and Health Networks publication highlighted several Remote Presence customers and studies as follows:

Remote Presence Saves Time
At Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Kansas, physicians have completed satisfaction surveys for more than 850 patient interactions with the robot. Using the robot allowed physicians to be eight times more efficient than off hours personal rounds. The physicians also claimed they were able to learn more about the patient and advance care. Patient Satisfaction
A multi-site patient satisfaction study found that almost 90% of patients agreed that they could communicate easily with their doctor through the robot, and 75% commented that they would rather see their doctor through the robot than an unfamiliar doctor in person. To see more, click here.

Stroke Consults
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States and the leading cause of long-term disability. St. Joseph Mercy Oakland and the Michigan Stroke Network are using Remote Presence robotics to offer stroke specialists and their expertise to rural hospitals in their network. "Small hospitals love the idea!" St. Joseph CEO Jack Weiner said. "They struggle to access consultive services, and with robots those are very easy to structure in everything from infectious diseases to psychiatric services. We use ours in the ICU as well as for stroke care...[Robots] allow small hospitals to serve their community much better in ways they never dreamed of."
